Description:
Abstract: The boundaries of the 44 counties in Idaho are represented as polygons with the county name as an attribute.
Purpose: This SDE layer was developed for use in ArcIMS Image Map Services. A minimum number of attributes were retained to enhance preformance of the Internet application.
Supplemental Information:
This coverage was created from a variety of coverages to create a more precise depiction of the county boundaries in Idaho. Where county lines corresponded with linear features in other coverages, those arcs were used. These coverages included: PLSS (1st edition), HUCS, ROADS, and 100,000 scale hydrography. To fill in gaps, boundaries were digitized from USGS 100,000-scale quadrangle maps.

Attribute Accuracy:
Attribute Accuracy Report: The names of each county have been verified against similar data sets such as the TIGER counties data set. The name of each county is spelled correctly.
Logical Consistency Report: Every polygon has a label and all polygons are closed. No tests were preformed for logical consistency.
Completeness Report: All 44 counties in Idaho are in the data set and each county polygon has a name attribute.

Checked linework against 100K quad map acetates. Placement errors for arcs were found in the 1st edition of the PLSS coverage on which county boundaries are partially based. Errors ranged from approximately 40 to 80 meters in the northing (y) value from ""true"" location as checked against better sources. Not all of the errors have been identified or corrected in the counties coverage as of this writing.

Downloaded the cities shapefile (cities_id_idwr.tgz) from INSIDE Idaho
Opened the shapefile in ArcView 3.2 and deleted all attributes from the .dbf except for the county name.
Exported the data to an SDE database using the Export > Shapefile to Geodatabase option in ArcCatalog 8.1. All defaults were used.
